About Craig
Craig lives in Portland, Oregon and has been a creative designer, illustrator and painter for over 30 years. His start began with freelance apparel and brand design for Portland-area Starbucks after finishing his BA in Fine Arts in 1991. From there, he freelanced for several local companies, large and small, creating brands, designing cd covers, and event collateral. Upon the emerging web scene in the late 90s, he gained experience with development and design for a small hosting company, designing and front-end developing over 300 sites in a span of 2 years.
In 2002, Craig expanded his print experience with Rivermark CCU earning several national awards in his 4 years as Art director and designer, where he oversaw all print advertising, large format marketing, television advertising and a complete rebrand of the financial institution.
Craig took a sabbatical in 2006 to travel Europe and Asia, before returning to join the weekly magazine, Portland Business Journal as an Art Director in 2008 and finally as Creative Director in 2013. He oversaw production of editorial design, ad design, agency collaboration, event collateral, magazine layout, digital advertising and rebranding the magazine to its “pinstripe” look while managing a team of several designers. In his 11 years, he and his team earned several national awards including: SABEW for General Excellence, SND for Cover Story Design, and SPJ Awards for General Excellence.
Today, he continues freelance and contract work in Portland, seeking new experiences and expanding his skills with multiple industries and new media vehicles.
